I personally opted to take all my characters to gear 12 as a base minimum and this mistake has cost me dearly in game progress as I cannot craft the pieces for relics anymore.
Adding the craft option from the scavenger screen is a sensible option.
Personally I won't be spending within this game until this issue is resolved.
Get your CUP and JKG to G12 like you claimed they were, and then you can make your spending threat.
