Yes.Also are you a kyber 1 player now?
No. I don't like GAC, but even if I liked it and tried to max out my position, I would probably spend most of my time in high-K2.
As it is I spend most of my time in K3.
I feel like for players who understood the old arena system from the early days and were able to join shard chats and secure the golden 1/1 for a long time, they basically were f2p with the resources of a mini whale. Earning 700+ crystals a day from your payouts was absolutely insane and it allowed many players to hoard a lot more resources than they should otherwise be able to. Not missing key characters like CLS, JTR, Revans and the **** was essentially a golden ticket to the game.
In my opinion those who got away with that through luck or skill or just doing their due diligence were always playing a completely different game than most of the community. Back in the day especially we had a lot of notice for events. Eventually CG caught on it and begun to crack down on it with shortening notice times, making marquee characters farmable just before major legend events etc and ultimately by shifting crystals from the arena to the grand arena, however those players who were "grandfathered" into those early arena shards and got the privilege of earning 700 crystals a day just from the payouts I personally would not put them on the same boat as the rest of the f2p community. You can disagree with that logic and I respect that, but speaking from experience that was just an absurd amount of resources coming your way and especially if you hoarded and didn't impulsively spend, you had the ability to stack enough crystals to make your life a lot easier.
I got a small taste of the fleet shard chat back in the day when I finally got the **** and I contacted my shard mates and they let me into the payouts and it felt absolutely nuts getting 1 every single day, I can only imagine if I could do the same for the character arena payout too. Unfortunately it didn't last very long but it was huge. There was also another huge component at the time which was luck with mods. Getting high speed mods was not an easy task and back in the day we had way fewer options and before the mod system rework, getting high speed mods was easier so whoever jumped on that train, (mostly those 1/1) players, got a ton of high speed mods which after the rework of mods came very handy to secure the top arena spots when the meta was basically so speed depended that even 1 extra speed point could determine who wins and who loses.
So yeah there's a lot things I could say about that but lucky you for being able to nail it down and enjoy those payouts for as long as you did
Im not following something: MasterSeedy challenges the 6-8 months theory, implying that you needed more to catch up with those at the top as a new player. They agree with the 6-8 months window only if it means ‘getting new stuff 6-8 months after whales’ and not ‘new player catch up’, implying that a less dedicated account would need more than 6-8 months to ‘get new stuff after the whales’.
Still, your counter-argument is that they got too much crystal revenue to represent the general player experience, eventually making their argument stronger, because another player would need even more time. What am i missing in this discussion ?
