Last time was because of the blackout period
True. We aren’t losing anything. However it’s still weird to launch a new raid where every guild has to wait over 24 hours to launch and most will be waiting greater than 3 days.
If they really are so cheap that they couldn’t gift guilds three days of tickets then in my opinion they should have stopped raids three days prior to launch.
This doesn’t even consider the fact that they chose to launch the raid in the week before thanksgiving. In the best case scenario, the first guilds would have finished the raid on the Wednesday before thanksgiving with most finishing over thanksgiving holiday plus weekend.
Of course, we’ve already been told there is an issue, so it really doesn’t matter as any smart planning would have been thrown out the window. Why they didn’t just shutdown raids on Wednesday of next week, launch the Monday after thanksgiving with every guild having max tickets I don’t know.
I respect and expect that cg understands their employees have personal lives which just makes the decision to launch this week more baffling.
Edit: grammar
The raid runs for 6 days now - it's not like people are going to be required to do the raid on Thanksgiving. There's five whole other days to get it done. I agree it would have been nice to have some tickets back-filled when they raised the cap - I was a bit disappointed when I realized it would be several days before we could launch. But also, to me, this just isn't a big deal. What is this really affecting? Who's being damaged by this?
I'm excited to get into the raid - but another three days really isn't bothering me. I can wait. We'll have plenty of time to get bored with it, whine about motion sickness, and demand a sim option later.
Edit: so it's still 3 days - I thought they were extending it to 6 but that's not what the raid info says (boo). Still, you're not committed to doing it on one specific day.
Apologies. I obviously wasn’t clear enough. From a player perspective new content on a holiday weekend is great. However the launch needs to go smoothly or employees need to be available to address issues.
Cg doesn’t have the track record of smooth launches nor do they seem to expect their employees to be available outside normal business hours. I respect the work/life balance they project and fully support it. That said, if you are going to do the right thing by your employees and not expect them to be available and you don’t have the track record of clean launches then don’t launch when your employees have such limited availability.
The two most likely times they’d encounter issues are at raid start and raid end. Most guilds under best case scenario were going to be doing both during times cg wasn’t going to be at full strength.
During the Krayt launch they worked overtime and over the weekend to address concerns and issues. Most of the community was very positive about that. Maybe we'll see that kind of thing again. Maybe everything falls apart - but I'm pretty sure if it does, CG will right the ship as they always do. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic, but my experience where CG is concerned tells me otherwise.
