In every movie he appears in, Yoda is basically the same: a very old shriveled little green guy spouting wisdom (some wise and some otherwise) in a funny voice. On the couple of occasions we get to see him fight, he's this bizarre green blur, which I personally found more comical than inspiring.
Obi-Wan is human and younger, so he's easier to identify with. We get to basically see him "grow up" through the prequels. He's a father-like figure through Episodes 2 and 3, a decent guy and not nearly as pretentious as Yoda is.
Bottom line: he's the sort of guy that Star Wars geeks can pretend they might have been like if SW was real. And that's a big part of what makes a hero character likeable. It's hard to do that with Yoda.
