P2P vs F2P Thoughts

I always see a lot of backlash towards the game mostly being p2p. Comments like “everything that comes out is favorable to p2p”. While I understand mild frustration from some, it’s important to note that without the whales, dolphins, etc. the game would not even continue to run. Compared to the millions of people that play this game, only a small percentage are p2p. Keep in mind this is just my opinion, but instead of complaining about p2p, maybe show a little gratitude otherwise you wouldn’t be playing at all. I’m not a whale but I do p2p and I expect to be rewarded for my monetary contribution to the game. To everyone who says it’s not fair, I say, how is it fair that a f2p player have an even advantage to those who spend hundreds, even thousands on this game. I would like to soften what I just said above by saying again that I do understand some frustration, however a little perspective goes a long way. I’ll end this by saying that I am not a dev or on the dev payroll, as I know some will assume that I am. Have fun everyone, cheers!

  • I would like to add, that as a F2P player, I don't feel obligated to waste money on something with no tangible value, and more important, on something that will be farmable after a couple months. Example would be mother talzin, zombie, unmasked kylo...
  • The real frustration lies with the moderate spenders aka Dolphins. It would be interesting to see who spends more, a finite group of uber whales or a larger group of moderate spenders. Sadly, I refuse to believe that there is a secret group of millionaires blowing $1000/mo on this game. I imagine there are quite a few maxing out their credit cards to feed their gambling addition.
  • While that is a sentiment that some share, that is a topic that goes both ways, without the numerous f2p players this game would also die off, for many reasons.

Have you thanked a f2p today ??
  • That’s the beauty of it, there is no obligation. We get to chose how we want to play. I love Star Wars, so to me the value is in the brand itself. I will gladly spend money on what I enjoy. I understand that to some there is no monetary value in the game and that is ok!

The Devs that create this game and earn a paycheque from it is a very tangible thing to them.
Im sure they thank you for your support.

  • Without whales the game wouldn't turn a profit, and it wouldn't exist. Without F2P players the whales have nobody to complete against with the advantage they paid for. Would you start playing a phone game if everyone that played had spent $20,000-50,000, and you would have to do the same just to be equal with them?

The game needs a thriving ecology of sea creatures of various sizes. We all need to get along. That doesn't preclude an occasional conversation about how even/uneven the playing field should be, or how much money is too much for a tiny fraction of the code/pixels available in the game though.
