Lots are getting her without spending for her. As with CLS, you had to pay attention to the hints and make some guesses, but planning wins the day.

This is from another thread, but it seems the Vets only need to survive long enough to "play their roles" so I would guestimate gear 7/8 would be enough.

The dedicated ones saved their crystals to buy vets from shipments before the cantina release. You farmed other things like Phoenix while they built up vets. You too can save 100 crystals a day!

I’ve saved, bought vet shards almost daily from my arena rewards so I will get to her and f2p. But I actually wished I hadn’t when I saw her kit. I made a big sacrifice but the gamble won’t pay off but that’s the risk :)

The vet characters themselves are meh, I just got caught up in the hype

I'm f2p and today I got them both to 6 stars (with 30 extra shards for chewie). It's about planning as everyone said.

Of course it's easier if you pay, but this game is incredibly accesible for us non-spenders

One thing I really love about this game is that I really lose no value in the game when I go F2P for a few months. When there's a big event for a toon I really love (BB8) then I spend freely, when there's nothing I want I just farm for as long as it takes and get the toon for free (Thrawn). Personally I love Rey, I love Old Han (I was him for Halloween) and I'm going to pay what it takes to get her, which isn't too much since I've been farming him for months.

I don't see the problem here, nor do I see any reason not to think that she's going to be absolutely amazing in the arena. Am I the only one who has wasted hours fighting GK/zBariss over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over................? Finally someone who can counter them effectively who isn't totally useless in every other respect (B2).
