Hes right tho alot of datacron or team are now making tons of assist hence wasting tons ton of time. Think between attack amd there you go timed out. Queen amidala team is a good exemple too. My JMK almost ran out of time and yet he block tm gain.
The ''good'' counter like you said sure... In GAC or TW you need both offense and defense team. Your opponent suprise you then gg the good counter become a 2-3 fight attempt.
The fight do last way longer than before. People complain more and more about how game calendar put everything in the same week. So reducing battle time or gaining a 6x will make it more than fair.
Also hes also right. 1x animation feel like 0.5x speed when 4x feel like actual 1x animation. They could also boots animation speed correcting the 1x-2x or 4x with correct speed.
The amount of team you cant beat using 1x is ridiculous.
