I believe harvestmouse was saying that they were trying to put some mods on character, and saw a mod that was currently equipped on a character with a bluish face. And because they were on the mod screen the portraits were significantly smaller and harder to distinguish than normal. So when they equipped that mod on whatever character they were modding, they then had try and find that character with a bluish face to put a different mod on. This is the only real problem with the portraits. Especially on mobile while on the mod screen the portraits become nearly indistinguishable. I do not believe that OP’s problem has much credence though, because you should definitely double check everything before you spend all your resources.

As a mobile player, I've not had much trouble distinguishing portraits unless they're geos, 501st or wookiee

OMG the dude reads minds and can change gibberish into words!!! Quick, get the water, see if they can make some wine!
Yes, this is exactly the problem. I can strip a mod, but if I don't know who I'm stripping it from, I don't know if I want to do that or will have to use 'empty mod slots' to replace it. So, I'd rather know upfront, which is much much harder now.
You can blame players for making mistakes, of course you can. However, if you make a change in a game that allows that to happen; that's poor game development.
