Getting number 1 is not a matter of "cheating" or "collusion." If your squad is capable of beating all the teams on the way to the top, you can "win," anytime you want to... provided you win the clock management at the end and your team doesn't let you down. On most shards there are actually not that many people in a given payout who can even do this. Maybe between 0 to 6 people at any given timezone on my shard. Many with just 1 or 2 players... of course this fluctuates with the meta and with player activity.
Getting #1 is not an achievement. It's a box to tick. A chore to complete. It's like finishing your daily. Why make it harder on yourself? Why make it harder on others who aren't even in your payout? Do you think there's actually a way to "win" this game? It's us against the game, not each other. The game is going to dish out a certain number of crystals to players... IF they are in the right spot at the right time. If your team is capable of occupying one of these spots, you might as well go get 'em. And actively trying to stop other people from getting theirs isn't really helping you, at all. If those spots are "empty" (filled by people that aren't in that payout), these crystals evaporate.
This. I have the EST payout which is a very common one on many shards. Theres only about 7 people with teams capable of taking 1st that share that payout. Of those 7, theres really only 4 of us that are able to do it consistently, whereas 2 are usually down in the 20s or teens around payout (Can't usually break top 10), and one that could take 1st as well, but he's usually busy around payout hour so some days he's up there, some days he isn't.
