Wow, group arena sucks. There are guys in my arena who have never had competition at payout. Never a friendly rivalry. Never a ruthless dude that snipes from 4 spots back. Never nothing but a tuesday, thursday, saturday, u take first. Monday, wednesday, friday, i take first, kind of thing. Never a mild amusement when u have time to pick up your phone at 5:50.
I tried to get my payout cohort to not use a schedule. To be clear, he has only ever been all alone at the top, and has been for several months, now. i have just got back to the top after 6 months away. I have taken first... oh, 3 or 4 times total, over the course of almost 3 weeks of being good enough to beat him reliably.. simply because sometimes i run out of battles, esp because he usually gets there first, and i would always stop at 2 befor attacking him.... and picking up the phone again in 10 minutes is not even worth 50 crystals, half the time.. ..... and yet he flipped out and campaigned to have me put on the kill list for not wanting to be on a 50/50 rotation.
So i finally conceded. And just like that. I dont care about arena, anymore. Like fleet, which i have finished my climb only 4 times in my life, i find the will tonfinish arena fading.
Boring... predictable.... and way too much like work with no potential surprise at the end. No rivalry. No last second victory.
Group thinks i am a &%$% for not wanting a schedule... even though this guy has come out way ahead without one. Which i dont get. But at least two of the most influential people in my group have never had a rivalry and dont understand. They are somehow permanently scarred by out of pay snipers (oh the name calling and plotting that gkes on against these guys) and equate the two together. I tried to explain that if we take top two spots, it hardly matter who "wins," and that an actual snipe/block battle would be pretty rare, maybe once a month... and we never even got one... at least not that he would admit. (I blocked only once, leaving 3 minutes... but I dont' know if he even tried and failed, or if he just saw the block and flipped out crying to put me on the kill list.) If this happened to me, I'd be tickled that he even made the effort, and I would be motivated to try to snipe.. and I would have fun, win or lose, and tell him about it, after.
I was initially excited to get back to the top 5, but since last time i was here, things have changed. The wild west is gone. To be here, i need to wear a suit and tie and show up on a schedule. Aint it great?
Dude i rivaled with before was a total %$$ sniping from 5 spot. I wish i had him back.
