It's all in his basic. Two DOTs on a debuffed target. The DOTs themselves, and how much that contributes to total damage on culling blade and execute, add a TON of damage total.
Plus one more thing to add is that with Zidious, Maul and Shaman, you also have a lot of TM gain on enemy death. It's just overall glorious.
