What percentage and how long should they have been playing? I’m at about 18 months in the game and think I have a good chance at unlocking her without paying for it. But what about someone with 6 months under her belt? 12?
The point being, “free to play” is a vague, subjective term at best.
A better way to gauge if a character is free or not is by how many people get it the second time, once there’s been time to work for it.
I disagree. All legendary events are free the second time around. There is no question that all of them are.
The question is only whether or not it is free the first time around. With Marquee events, of course they're p2p characters. With legendary events we always had enough time to farm the required toons needed to 7* the new toon the first time around... Even Thrawn, we had between 3 and 4 weeks to farm up the toons. I would have had him 7* for free the first time around without hoarding or spending money if I hadn't taken the time to finish up my empire for R2 first (a full week).
If people cant' even obtain a legendary character the first time around without spending money even though they were as focused as they could possibly be on completing the event, that will be the first time a legendary character wasn't available f2p.
That's a big problem. Marquee characters P2P? OK, that's the deal. Legendary characters p2p? That's a new one. That's a big problem. That undermines the delicate balance between f2p and whales. F2P are needed so that Whales have someone they have to spend to get ahead of. Whales will always have the advantage, but if that advantage is too big, F2P quit, and the game crumbles.
No, the only sound way to judge whether an event is F2P or not is the first time it comes out.
Incorrect. they are all F2P. If you feel like you absolutely must win and are willing to pay money to do so, that's on you.
It's incorrect that the fact that they eventually become f2p makes them free altogether.
META breaking toons released in a legendary event need to be available to f2p players the first time or they are p2p.
By the time the event comes around the second time they are obsolete, and it doesn't matter if they are f2p.
This is the only time that distinction matters is the first time it comes out. the 2nd and successive ones are irrelevant.
