Same, but that is the brilliance of a microtransaction and RNG based game. You dont look at the total cost you just keep paying a little to roll the dice.
If it's going to be P2P, I'd rather it be very clear that that's the case. I didn't get Yoda, Thrawn, or EP on the first go around, and was 100% fine with that. In my mind, Thrawn was very clearly "free to 5-star, pay to 7-star" on the first pass.
This event simply deleted the "free to 5-star" option.
