Ships are just too much for me right now. I can't complete most of the ship challenges and I am lucky to stay in rank 200 in fleet arena. I am trying to work on my characters first because they are more important for me. You could just work on characters for a while and passively farm ship materials and then upgrade everything once you are done with your characters.
