Variety is a code word for "I want to win every time, no matter what team I run".
The attacker in this game has every advantage against a terrible ai, but to many it's not enough. This has allowed the entitlement mentality to flourish.
I want unbeatable teams on defense, or at least very tough teams, and so sith are a welcome. Nihilus expansion made zaul almost unbeatable, and that is a good thing. My advice, if your not running nihilus expect to lose. And lose often! This game needs more domination, not variety ("or said another way, not a guaranteed win).
