Lots of assumptions here. It’s a fair attempt to make sense of a fundamentally irrational rule change - but it only works if you assume players in individual matches will always be in the same division. CG stated during the big changes that players would no longer be pooled in mixed division brackets & they’ve quietly pedalled back on that in this change with no explanation.
@Lumiya I think you’ve picked up on the underlying irrationality of this but you’re not getting far with it because too many people like to take a personal authority from defending other peoples rules (I don’t know why - maybe it makes them feel more important or grown up) - plus there’s a bit of a forum leitmotif of ‘git gud & stop whining’ - which is just the normal adolescent nonsense. Those that do try to helpfully make sense of it - (see above) are rare and noble souls, but still are going to struggle because it only makes sense if CG want to break the connection between brackets and divisions
