This isn't the first time around for this event, I'm curious why you would not invest in Dengar since you even point out your Guild mate completed with a G9 Dengar?
Yes it "should" be possible with any combination of 5 good BH's but it's been known to make this event much, much easier to complete by negating R2's stealth based on Dengar's unique ability.
