Because you can get the same secondary bonuses ON A SPEED SET.
Which means that, all primaries and secondaries being equal, the speed set is ALWAYS BETTER (if speed is your goal).
If your whole point is just "choose mods for their primaries and secondaries and not necessarily their set bonuses," then sure, you are correct, just like the dozens of other threads that have repeatedly made the same point.
max set bonus gives rey +18 speed and aayla +12 speed. Not that big of a difference. Speed mods are mehhh imo.
But +6 is still a difference. For a character like Rey, going first is pretty much the whole key to her kit. Functionally it's a HUGE difference.
I've seen entire squads whose speed ratings were all within the same small 10 pt range. Believe it or not, movement order STILL matters greatly, even in circumstances like that.
I'd rather achieve that high speed/order movement with primary and secundary stats than with speed mods. That +10% with 4!! mods is just not worth it imo. But by all means, do what you think is best, we might even get "diversity" ;)
That's sorta missing the point...
You do it with health/offense/whatever mods, and I'll do it with the speed mods having identical primary and secondaries to yours.
Each of mine will go before each of their counterparts on your team.
Is the difference always going to have the same impact on the match? Of course not. In many cases it won't even be quite as impactful as an extra 10% health might be. But it WILL be a difference, and it WILL have some impact.
I'm not sure what point you are trying to make anymore. Is the faster character always going to be faster with the same mods, yes. But i dont think its worth adding that 10% extra speed when i can use other set bonusses. Rey having 30 more speed or 12 more speed than the next guy to move makes no difference.
