The exception will be any lower tier mods you already have or farm and upgrade BEFORE the change. You can get your higher odds for less credits now and then have an additional chance to improve them through slicing. Once the change goes through, green and blue mods will not be worth the investment give the odds you are chasing.
I find myself unable or unwilling to think through what will actually be happening, so...what's the best thing to do with the mods I'm farming right now? Is it worth upgrading grey mods just in case?
Basically you want to farm greens and blues and upgrade those now at the lower cost to see if their speed improves. If it does, they may be worth slicing later. Grays aren’t worth it. They won’t upgrade any differently after the change because they never have had a chance to upgrade secondary stats through leveling and still won’t. They will be sliceable, but unless the drop rates on slicing mats are incredibly generous, it will be a waste to slice a gray mod four times at 25 percent odds each time for speed improvement. Much better to spend those mats on a purple or blue that upgraded twice or three times already and could potentially turn into an arena caliber mod if you get your 1 in 4 roll. This goes back to probability. When you have to win a 25 percent roll 3/4 or 4/4 times, your odds are incredibly low. If I remember right, hitting that roll 3 of 4 times is roughly a 5 percent chance, while hitting it four of four is 0.39 percent. Given the credits and materials you would have to invest to level a gray mod to 15 and THEN slice it four times, I would call that a hard pass.
