It is just unfortunate for the people who have paid a robust amount to attain/level/star/gear characters before mods were introduced. Spending thousands of dollars in december of 2015 amounts to little now that you need plenty of other things to make those characters halfway decent.
Next it will be augments or something that will marginalize everything you have worked on prior.
Imagine if the devs had their way and mods were as OP as they were originally. It's a pretty clear message they are sending.
