Funny. I don't recall the part where he said he deserved to be handed anything. It seems like he was asking that we know where to direct our efforts so that we can put in the work ourselves. That would be nice.
That's a choice you've made, though. The choice I've made is to work on a wide breadth of characters so that if an event comes out I'll very likely be able to participate.
I have never chased the meta, though for a nice moment when B2 debuted the meta chased me for a while, but I have a ton of characters that I've been farming since I started playing (My roster is on whatever the site is, pretty sure it's the same name I use here) and have earned.
So why should I be punished because you made a choice that I didn't? Am I going to get a free General Kenobi because I made a choice you didn't? How's that fair?
Not one thing you said made any sense, and none of it had any relevance to what I said. I said nothing about my roster, or any choices I've made. (I actually have a very diverse roster TYVM.) I was just pointing out that someone indiscriminately spat the word "entitlement" at the OP when he wasn't asking for anything tangible for free. He wanted information (which they always give us) a bit earlier, which I noted would be nice.
By the way, this wouldn't "punish" you. You would benefit from the same info. You wouldn't miss out on anything by all of us knowing what to grind if we choose to go a certain direction.
There was one other thing you said that was nonsense. Building a diverse roster is good to a point. But unless you're a whale you can't have over 100 characters 7* and gear 11. Many events require something specific that requires a bit of focus. You mentioned Kenobi. If you built a roster of dozens of gear 8/9s then someone with the right 5 man team of gear 11s would outperform you by miles.
Diversity is good, but some things require focus. And they usually give us the information on where to focus when something new comes out. Just not always as soon as some would like so that we can start the grind. Are there financial reasons for dropping it on us at the last second? Sure. But even with a bit of notice many would need to buy some crystals to make it in time. And not making customers angry has value as well. If they stick around they may spend more in the future as opposed to people rage quitting.
So the trick for the devs is to balance holding the info until late enough that there is a little pressure to spend, but not too late to make significant numbers of customers angry. I thought the Phoenix/Thrawn thing was about right. But slightly earlier would be nice, and it wouldn't hurt you any.
