Tenacity/potency questions

so, its known that no matter what there is a base % chance to resist that cant go lower than 15%.
so 100 potency, 50 tenacity, still 15%

what about the opposite, if you have 100 tenacity, and enemy has <100 potency, is it a 0% chance of success, or 85% chance to resist

Also, does potency affect personal buffs, such as "at the end of jawa scavenger's turn, if scavenger is stealthed, 50% chance of giving defense up to up to 2 allies, and 50% chance of giving offense up to up to 2 allies." With enough potency, is that 50% now 100%? or can it never change from 50%

I think the tie goes to the defender. so if there is such a situation the defense simply takes no damage, like evade.. you can evade an attack but if it gets past evade it should still do full damage, in my opinion but it doesn't.. so the person evading the game gives them a pass. Like evade is also a partial glancing blow...

So if you have 100% tenacity which is still basically impossible it wouldn't matter I think the game takes into account factors and some things just won't apply or you take zero damage..
  • @Khorvog_Karbossa we were told by a dev that the formula used is:

% chance to resist = tenacity - potency with a minimum chance of 15%

So a toon with 100% tenacity would have a 50% chance to resist an effect applied by an enemy with 50% potency. So the general consensus is that tenacity is pretty pointless.

Potency has no effect on applying positive effects. They simply have the chance stated (and if there is no chance stated then they automatically work unless there is something else like shock on the toon).
  • The devs have not clarified if there is an upper limit to resist, such as 85% (i.e., a 15% chance for a negative status effect to proc). As far as I know there is no potency involved in applying positive effects to your allies. Finally, it is certainly possible to have tenacity exceeding 100; for example, Ackbar leader gives +10% tenacity, so you just have to mod to ≥90% tenacity. In fact, tenacity is mostly useless in this game unless you drive it high like that since most toons requiring potency to proc will be modded decently.
  • Note that tenacity up (Rex or Yoda) means there is a 100% chance to resist - effectively tenacity is temporarily increased to 10,000% (i.e. no potency will ever overcome it).
