really interesting piece on Reddit regarding this very topic, considering the issue doesn't exist there sure are a lot of people talking about it.

Here is just one quote from the conversation, but have a read yourself guys and make your own mind up.
"High end guilds are holding out 10% of their base each round of TW. Each person will miss out on 1 out of 10 wars. This lowers their GP enough that they fall into easier to beat brackets. The idea is that if you get 3 zetas for each win each time, you will get 27 zetas over a 10 TW stretch. If you win one, lose one in tough brackets, and say you go 50% that is 2.5 zetas over 10 rounds so 25 zetas or if you get rolled in high end the difference is even bigger. Pretty **** stuff over a few zetas IMO"
The one quote you actually posted has several posters from high end guilds stating that most don't do that. The statement also has absolutely no proof.
I'm an in a relatively strong guild (125 m GP). We have never (and would never) ask guild members to sit out and have won our last 3 TW. Most self-respecting high end guilds don't and wouldn't. Perhaps next time, consider your source.
And a reddit post where people are discussing how TW matchups are determined is MUCH different then the assertion that most guilds intentionally manipulate GP by asking members to sit out. But, hey, don't get let real facts get in the way of trolling and fear-mongering.
Many guilds are losing TW because they don't play TW well. They don't set defenses that are played well in the hands of the AI, they don't set defensive teams that regenerate versus multiple attempts, they don't coordinate their offensive attacks, they don't focus their roster building around viable teams (either for defense or offense), they don't maximize their ships in fleet (they assign all slots instead of holding 1 or 2 out of each for a 4th fleet). Sometimes that's the only reason. Not some baseless accusation of GP manipulation.
Our guild has won 3 and lost 1 (and tied the first 2). We learned from the loss, applied what we have learned and won the last 3. No cheating, no manipulation, no exploits. Simply learning and playing better. That's a lot more fun - and at the end of the day, probably what most guilds are actually doing.
