That is just an excuse... the meta changes... I am fairly new but it seems like they change pretty quickly based on the meta. People were complaining about Palp and that meta is mostly gone now.
They have done a pretty good job making great characters available to F2P ... There are VERY good squads easily available to F2P.
Sounds like to me these are players that are used to being on the top and the idea that they won't be anymore is too much. In addition they will have to grind like all us normal players to the endgame content... oh the horror.
