This community is so dramatic

Why is it that every time CG makes an update to this game everyone and their moms start complaining about how the game is going to die and its over for FTP players. Your getting the same or better rewards from Galactic challenges except now you have to buy them out of the shop. All they really did was add more rewards for people who spend on characters. Doesn't really seem like that big of a deal to me.

I'm inclined to agree - this has all been blown way out of proportion. Hopefully CG comes in with something that will calm people down soon.

Half the guild is talking about a nail in the coffin... folks that have been playing for 5 to 8 years. They're fed up by changes that don't address the actual needs to keep the game engaging, fed up with the feedback that's being ignored, and fed up with **bleep** just not working. But sure, blame the community for being negative instead of blaming the CG management and their nonsensical choices.

  • While I agree that there is an over dramatisation generally in the forums, I don't always think it's unwarranted. Obviously players saying they are quitting or using unkind personalised rhetoric towards CG isn't helpful or in some cases acceptable.

I'm not a spreadsheet guy so I'll leave the maths to the experts about rewards. It doesn't feel like we are getting the same which is probably the crux of the matter, it feels distasteful and it lacks a real motivation or incentive to want to engage. I'm already eagerly awaiting to see what the bare minimum is I have to do to get 'enough' for omicrons etc.

Being reminded with a load of pop ups of how big the gap is between being a whale or normal player through character awards while simultaneously being smashed in GAC to players with a ton of datacrons who are already in a tier they shouldn't be in because of an unadressed GAC squish compounds the issue!

I don't expect CG to respond on the forums, it's not always a pleasant space but let's be honest we're all unique in that not too many of our RL friends are playing this game for x amount of years. We have our guild chat or forums to express the frustration and joy that is swgoh. I would welcome a feedback channel that wasn't public but also had a sense that you were being listened to.

Even in this post people are stating they are losing rewards.  But mathematically you aren't. You get enough episode currency to get the omis and pick other rewards your account needs instead of character shards or gear piece you have thousands of. Just need to do your dailies and what you can in GCs. Don't need to max them all to get equal rewards.

The problem I believe is, people shouldn't need to do the Math to figure out that rewards are about on par as before. Visually, it looks worse than it did. They should remove the episode pass part from inside the GC feats at the minimum.

I don't know about the first part, but I very much agree with the second.

For Omis and Kyros, the main source is the Episode store. The problem is that to be able to get anything from the Episode store, we need Episode currency, and the Episode currency is spread in such a way throughout the track that it takes a while for us to get enough currency to be able to buy them before the store refresh. And to progress along the Episode track, we need Episode points. Which (at first glance at least) is hard considering the following issues.

Episode points from GCs are cut in half unless we buy the battle pass (the announcement mentioned it will be this way at launch, here's hoping we go back to normal after a few GCs) and spend crystals or actual money to get the new marquee character to 7 stars. If that's the way it's going to be indefinitely, I can understand why players are upset. Not everyone can or is willing to spend so many crystals or actual money for every new marquee just to complete an event they were able to beat just fine before. With the previous GC system, players were mainly frustrated when we had to use, let's say, Jawas, Tuskens or Ewoks against Empire, Imp Troopers, Rebels, etc. Those teams aren't exactly A or even B tier, so not surprising that not many people have them reliced. And even at relic levels, the modifiers are the main source of strength. If you are up against an enemy team with mechanics that nullify what makes yours decent (e.g., the Ewok modifier stuns the enemies on out of turn attacks, which is useless if you go against a team that has multiple cleanses or is downright immune to stun) or if the global modifier makes the enemy even stronger while providing little to no benefit for your team, surprise surprise, you lose. Anyway, back then, we at most miss out on only one feat, and even then it's just mostly for the higher tiers and the loss in rewards is minimal. Now, we have one feat that requires the newest marquee at higher and higher stars for each tier, which means at most you can only complete the first two tiers, and one only being available if you pay actual money. Factor in the previous problem of what teams are required. I managed to get the current GC done for all tiers with zeta-less R2 Saw lead, but it required several restarts until I got lucky. Imagine the next few GCs, e.g., Tuskens against 50R-T. I think this point, about GCs, is what largely frustrates a lot of players, myself included. If we must have the newest marquee for GCs, at least replace it with "Win the battle with [insert marquee character] at at least [insert gear level up to 11]". I say up to G11 because we would still have to invest in the character but not so much that we are left dry in terms of resources.

Episode points from Character quests. I don't mind the idea of additional rewards for trying to get the new marquee done during the event, but it takes at least 12k crystals from the packs just to complete the first part. Even then, I personally can look the other way. What bothers me is that I already have all the character quests completed, but can't claim the rewards unless I spend even further, which brings me back to the point that not everyone can afford to spend all their crystals or an obscene amount of money every time a new marquee is released. And that fear is likely going to become worse if we go by what CG said and implied in the announcement, that the first actual era alone is going to have 5 marquees, and what does that say about each following era. Remove the shard requirements for the first part and reduce the amount required in at least the 2nd and 3rd parts. At the very least, give a small amount of points for just having the character unlocked and the rest of the rewards for having the required number of shards.

I'll try to be optimistic and see how it turns out, but my point is that right now half of the feats are locked behind spending several tens of thousands of crystals at best or actual money at worst, while the completely F2P feats are very few and offer little progress. And because of that players automatically assume we'll be getting less rewards than before. I have nothing against the Episode pass offering additional rewards in the track itself. If anything make the rest of the feats similar. You can get them if your're F2P, but also get additional rewards if you buy the pass or get the marquee to higher stars. What you said about having to do the Math is right. We may at the end of the month get similar rewards to what we used to get, but visually, with the whole feats and new marquee thing, it is just discouraging. Example, because of the battle pass and new marquee feats, if you end up with a difficult GC, as in having to use a C tier team against A tier enemies, you lose points from the higher tiers and have no way of compensating for that through the other feats. And I am speaking as a F2P player who, if anything, was looking forward to the new system after the announcement.

  • Yes, most people are way too emotional about this change.

The only complaint I have so far is that it says I am doing character quests, but I am not able to collect rewards for them. I'm not saying I should get the rewards as listed (those that people have to pay for), but the game would be better if something was given rather than nothing when you complete a task. Doesn't have to be a lot, but something.

As for the loot overall, I will wait until the end of the event to determine if the change is positive or negative.

  • The forums are a fickle minx. There was outrage when the first LSBs came out from people who’d just finished GLs and felt their investment was devalued. Now the LSBs aren’t generous or often enough for many - cue more outrage. Gungans came out - outrage from the h8rs. Too long since Jar Jar event - you guessed it, outrage.
