Players should be ignoring the in-game recommendations because they're made by people at CG who don't play the game. Check content creators on twitch or YT for recommendations.
As far as older characters, they are very low priority for CG to do anything about because they don't make money off updating older characters. (Though they're perfectly fine with making datacrons for older characters to get us to R9 our whole roster, and/or putting them in operations in ROTE TB!)
Again, who is taking a character to r9 for a datacron?
Why do you keep referring to Datacrons in posts that have nothing to do with them? Is it because you love them so much?
I didn't say anyone was, I said CG wants us to R9 our entire roster. And TB has requirements for R9 characters that no one uses.
Also, datacrons are a significant part of the game in regards to PVP and, as I mentioned, older characters are getting datacrons, because CG uses that to motivate us to build old and useless characters. Most any conversation can involve datacrons because they're that impactful to the game, whether you want to hear about them or not.

Though I guess when you’re hammering out angry missives as often as you are, it might be difficult to keep track of what you say in them.
Claiming that Datacrons are relevant to most any discussion about this game is ludicrous. This post is about modding. Other posts are about advice for specific events or timelines for character releases. Would your game-hating bile be relevant in a guild recruitment thread?
And it’s not about me not wanting to hear about Datacrons. People are creating threads to discuss specific issues and are looking for replies that further that discussion - not angry sidebars from an embittered veteran player.
A relevant datacron contribution could have been: “In-game modding recommendations are tricky because characters that benefit from certain stats might suddenly benefit from an all-health setup because of faction bonuses in a new datacron set”.
