Nobody uses the in game recommendations- simply google the character name and mods and take it from SWGOH.GG which will generally give you the current meta for mods on characters.
This is a classic misconception to think that no one uses the in-game recommendations. That's because all the people who are active in forums, YouTube, etc. manage their own mods and you only hear from them. But people forget that a large proportion are casual players or those who don't want to invest time in mods and therefore use the in-game recommendations. And for them, an update like this would make perfect sense.
But I totally agree with you that if you want to deal with mods in more detail, you should use SWGOH.gg.
