It would be nice if I go back to a thread that I've read, with 1 new post, it would take me to the bottom of the thread, to that unread post. The old forum was inconsistent about doing this, but mostly that was how it worked.

Also, when you click on a thread notification (User xyz replied to thread abc) it doesn't take you to that reply, just the thread, so you have to go find where the reply is.

It would also be nice to be able to upload our own pictures to use as avatars as well.

There's very little sense of organization here - I'm guessing that will be improved over time - but this feels very much like "minimum viable product" and it's not performing as efficiently or intuitively as the original forums (which weren't perfect but were highly functional, in spite of the spam filter eating edited posts). Perhaps some of that is learning curve, but I don't think that's the whole of it.
It does look clean when everything is loaded but the constant reloading to be able to see all replies in a thread is not the best experience. I feel like pagination works a bit better for thread navigation than the constant need to click "show more" - and the "show more" prompts would be a little less irritating if the next set of replies were pre-cached instead of needing a full page reload every time. Perhaps loading more replies per "show more" click would help - but really I think pre-caching is the right strategy.
I think this bar should stay at the top with the EA banner to make navigation between different areas of the forums easier. It's not great to have to scroll back up through a zillion replies to get back to this:Or perhaps that could be handled with a child menu here:
Also, regarding these objects on the right side of the screen:
For those items to be of more value and usefulness, perhaps a select couple of them could stay on-screen when the user scrolls down. As it is now, on the desktop site those things scroll away as you read replies and nearly half of the page is dead space - meanwhile I'm reading responses with progressively smaller and smaller screen width until it's a small minority of screen real estate that's used to deliver information with vast swaths of dead space on either side.
The reddit style of generating child replies to comments is not my favorite way of reading things - it encourages rabbit holes of off-topic discussion which ultimately take you out of the context of the original post and make it difficult to stay focused on the subject matter at hand. This is a drastic deviation from the original forums and while it's certainly not a deal breaker - and while I'm already somewhat accustomed to that format on reddit - it's just not my favorite way to consume textual conversation. As an aside - I hope the powers that be won't try to make these forums any more like reddit than they have to be - that format encourages toxicity and mob mentality and it isn't a healthy format for productive discussion. If that's what you all wanted, reddit already did all the work for you - and the players that want that have already established a hive there.
As has been mentioned already, dark mode would be great - but I understand you all are working on that so thank you.
Overall I appreciate the clean aesthetic and the work and effort that has gone into the new forums. I look forward to continued improvements on the site. Thanks for opening this feedback thread - I know I can speak for at least some in the community when I say that we appreciate the opportunity to be heard. Keep up the good work. - hexenJager437 months agoSeasoned Adventurer
As touched on by others here. Having pinned threads at the top from important ppl would be nice. I didn't see Meathead's threads until I found his name and went through his profile.
It also seems clunkier to use than the old forums. I find myself not checking it nearly as often.

When using my phone the other day I was unable to search for conversations by tag. Works on my computer just fine.
It would be helpful to find a way to pin some posts so they're easier to find. Even if they unpin after a week or two. This would make it easier than scrolling when looking for kit reveals, etc. - CaptainAhen7 months agoNew Vanguard
I've been noticing now that more replies have been left to discussion threads that pages load pretty slowly. When I click "Show more" I get brought back up to the top of the page and have to scroll back down, which is not ideal when I'm going through 100+ replies and only 5-10 are loading at a time. To accommodate longer threads it would be nice to have a "Show all replies" option next to the "Show more", or paginate the replies. Also consider a button that displays only my replies and people who have replied directly to me. Having buttons to reduce scrolling would be nice too, like "Top" and "Bottom" that will take me directly to those locations on the page.

So apparently the threads from the old forums have been migrating over since 4/5/24. Is that process complete?

There may be some people who prefer the first paragraph of an OP to be visible.
I am not one of them. I realize that this work does not directly generate revenue for EA/CG so optional features might be fairly low on a priority list and take time to implement. That said, I would like to be able to access a list of posts that I can run down at a glance. The paragraphs are unnecessary for me in the vast majority of cases and serve rather to get in the way of my quick assessment of whether there's anything of interest to me on a given day.
This could mean going back to titles only, as on the CG forums. Or it could mean giving users the option of switching back and forth in their personal settings to titles-only vs. title+1stPara.
Different people are different, so I assume that there are a good number who prefer the new system. I don't want them to lose a feature they like, but this is going to be something that discourages my participation in the forums (and I like to think that my past participation has been valuable to more than just me).

Something else I noticed is if you go to the forum and open up the "search by tag", when the search box appears you are unable to scroll too far before it brings you back to the search box. This should close itself if scrolling too far away.
