The only purpose for galactic legends is to get players to build up a bunch of OTHER characters that they deem as requirements for that GL. Then, you spend resources, time, and money on that GL. It'll be "good" for a while, but then CG will release the "new shiny" and its time will be over. Not to mention all the datacrons we rent to make teams worthwhile.
CG makes a good bit of money off GLs. Now, their dumb coliseum option is much worse because they're forcing us to work on characters we can't even test before they are released. While in the coliseum, we have to build them up and CG wants us spending money on an untested / unproven product over and over again to raise revenue. Pretty shady, but nothing surprising since CG is part of EA who does that kind of stuff consistently and historically.
Consistency doesn't matter, only revenue. New shinies and new players are what matters because they bring in revenue.

Having no counters to GLs but GLs would be massively unbalanced. If your GLs are modded well and you are placing them on def in an environment that they are strong in, your opp generally needs a dedicated counter to deal with it that you can bait with your front walls. If you're putting Jabba on def in a wampacron environment you aren't bothering with any research and deserve the loss...

Don't like the underdog hero story? There's counters for everything. Some more than others. But that is what makes it interesting.

I think there should be non-gl counters to GLs but I think it's getting to the stage now where there are too many
