It was more of a continuation quote I guess? Either that or I quoted the wrong thing, Idk, doesn't matter that much. I'm not saying they shouldn't add characters that made Star Wars what it is today, I'm just saying that we shouldn't steer away from adding in the newer characters because we don't like them as much. Eventually those characters are going to develop into making Star Wars into an even bigger universe and a more expansive franchise, so they have a right to be included. If we don't add more of the newer characters, the game will be held back and not attract newer audiences as the newer characters become more prevalent.
I get your point but particularly one statement you make, the bold part, is the developer being driven by the audience when they could be steering the audience instead (well, they do steer us away from original characters for some reason). think about it. if they gave the original characters some team synergy and made them viable, even able to compete, new audiences playing the game would wonder who these characters are IF they didn't know and possibly look further into them bringing more much deserved credit and awareness of the characters who made STAR WARS what it is today and made this game possible. again, just making them competitive, they wouldn't have to make them top tier.
as they are now they don't even get recognition and have completely dumb AI to boot. not to mention them ignoring the one original character probably 80% of the people have been asking for. it's like ok they're catering to audience demand ONLY when it involves new characters? what's up with that? doesn't even make sense. wouldn't they want to also keep existing audiences or is this like the longer you rent somewhere the more it goes up? where as brand new potentially bad renters get great deals? or where internet providers and cell phone companies offer up new customers great deals and loyal customers get nothing? maybe that's some sort of multi-purpose business model I'm not aware of.
