I don't spend money - if I spent even $500 a year I might have one more GL (5 instead of 4), but that wouldn't make much of a difference in the long run. The best bang for your buck as a new player is the HDB, and it's either half off or about to be half off. It's a bit dated, but still great value for spenders. Also they are giving us a bunch of goodies for the anniversary.
The game wouldn't have lasted this long if every new player who picked it up could get full teams to relics in the first month of gameplay. It's a hero collector. Strap in for the long haul.
As a F2P person who's been around a few years now, i'd have to say they're increasing the chasm between the haves and have nots a whole lot the last year or so. Further driving it home by doing things like making the inquistors and hutt cartel stuff be every other GC, requiring them in conquest all the time, and putting them into existing TB's etc. It comes off very much as 'we've put out stuff before and people didn't buy it so now we're going force them to buy it'. Maybe that's not the case, but it seems that way..
I don't expect it to change, and it wouldn't surprise me if the pushed harder either.
The refrain I hear is the whales pay for it all they should get it all. Well, if you drive away the F2P base the game dies as well. You need to cater to both sides and the last year+, they've been coming down on one side only.
It's not a complaint. Let's be clear about that. It is an observation. It hasn't driven me away, but I does make me care less and less about the new content they put out because it's going to be out of reach for me for a long time. it is what is. But, new players should know it going in.
