Haters gonna hate.
Where did you see that I hate it?
I've been playing this game every day since 2016. During these years I've found a lot of thing exciting and few things bored or bad in it. So far nobody cares this part.
And now comes what is perhaps more interesting: the first three raids were very well planned. We played with them for years before we got bored of them, then they became simable or easily auto playable. We got bored of the dragon raid in a few months. Now, if this Endor raid is going to be about what we see in Leia Tier 5, then we got a big problem. We'll probably get bored in a few weeks in terms of raid.
So I'm not criticizing the game because I hate it, but because I quite like it and I don't want it to become boring and burned out. And I definitely don't want it to become a math calculation task without any fun.
I think one of the reasons those raids had such staying power is that all the legacy raids had four distinct phases with a different strategy and ideal team comp for each. With Krayt (and soon Endor) there's one mode. Strategy may depend on the toons you use, but the scenery and mechanics stay the same. Imagine doing HSTR but only ever being able to do phase 1 - that would get really boring really quickly. With the new raid system, in theory the tedium would be mitigated by rapidly cycling the 'featured raid' - but that doesn't give anyone but the bleeding edge players time to develop raid teams. I think CG is still trying to figure out how to pull off this balancing act.
Honestly, I can see this getting old fast. And I'm not looking forward to making new mod loadouts or doing all the mod shuffling that Krayt required initially. Seems like a fantastic time to introduce roster wide mod snapshots (wink wink nudge nudge CG). But as with most things where this game is concerned, I'll take a 'wait and see' approach, since my initial evaluations always seem to be overly pessimistic after actually getting into the new stuff.
Yeah I’ve felt this way about the new raid system as well. The older raids were WAY more fun/engaging because there were multiple distinct phases, and you could bring your whole roster so it opened up a lot more options overall. Now everyone is bottlenecked into the same few teams. Of course there were “best” teams for the old raids, but you still had a lot more options and could craft your own best teams based on your own farming path. Plus being able to do things like Troopers run on HSTR, was exhilarating!
If they’re going to stick to this new raid system (which I suspect they are), they could at least give us full roster mod snapshots and let us sim our last score. That would really help alleviate complaints and burnout a LOT.
