Ahnald's video was pretty detailed and gave a lot of interesting points about it. This should be a "phase 1" or "Phase X" of a real raid, not the whole thing.

It would have been trivial to tie datacrons to the raid. I think your bitterness about datacrons is coloring your perspective on the whole game. They're not going anywhere - they're here to stay. Ignore datacrons or minimally engage. Plenty of people are doing that and getting along just fine in GAC.
With regard to the raid specifically - I can auto all 8 teams and collect rewards? Sign me up.

Datacrons color player's perspective on the whole game because they have a significant impact on the whole game. If you get the best ones, that helps you win gac. you win gac you get more rewards, crystals, etc. you get more crystals you can get more gear, unlock characters faster, do more in pvp and pve with an improved roster.
Just because they're here to stay doesn't mean I can't talk about them and complain. I'm a paying customer after all.
I really enjoyed doing all the other raids as an accomplishment of completing them. Even having to solo the Sith Raid each time it appeared was a quick fun thing to do, even to see how fast I could go to get through it. Krayt was fun a couple times to hit that max score with non hutt teams too.
If this raid is setup this way and everyone can just "auto" their way through 8 teams, why make a raid at all CG? Why not just give us raid rewards for clicking the join button each week? Or we just do it once and Sim it after we hit a certain score we are content with?
Right - if you engage with more of the game you get more rewards. That goes without saying. What I'm saying is, there's nothing stopping you from NOT engaging with datacrons - or only minimally engaging with them - and plenty of people do that (myself included) and they're still enjoying the game. So find your joy - you seem to be perpetually bitter about this and I can't see how the choice to be so wouldn't negatively impact your experience.
Bringing a complaint about datacrons into a thread about the raid is illogical and off topic. The two aren't related - not even from a monetization standpoint. CG DOES make money off the raids because it moves people to add gear to characters they otherwise might not have. It generates downward pressure on player resources which directly translates into money by way of crystal and gear purchases. So your assertion that they don't care about the raid because it doesn't generate money like datacrons doesn't hold up to even minor scrutiny.
I'm just saying everything bad in the game isn't because datacrons. There's plenty to not like about the raid so far - literally pick anything about it to criticize and I probably wouldn't disagree. There's some good things about it too though.
The Good:
CG tried something new - I applaud that.
Rewards look to be better for what will ultimately be less effort (for my guild anyway).
If it really can be auto'd that saves me from having to learn a ton of new mechanics - yay.
We only have to do it once a week now.
