So I’m ambivalent about this raid. When I think about what cgs goals were for this raid, it mostly ticks the boxes. Less time consuming by players request, low development cost, new abilities/gameplay, playable over a very wide guild gp range, encourages investment in a limited set of factions, and doesn’t suffer from long term existing characters trivializing the raid.
Its most obvious drawback is the actual gameplay and it’s a big drawback. However, I think cg is okay with that and I’m honestly on the fence. While I tend to look back on older raids with rose colored glasses and miss soloing them, or unlocking a raid exclusive character or enjoying getting a full kyro, I also remind myself the frustration I felt facing raid exclusive characters in pvp when I was months away, or the aggravation that came from missing out on rewards because my guild couldn’t beat the raid or because too many people outscored me.
It’s not a “fun” raid and while I wish all raids were fun, I’m not sure the positives outweigh the negatives that come along with “fun” raids.
