The point is to hopefully earn shards toward more stars not to get him maxed out in one go. Last months login hero/shard event was meant to let everyone unlock him (as long as you logged in every day). But i do agree only the mega whales (wallet warriors) will have a chance at any sefious progress on him from the tournament. I have several teams of heroes at 7 stars but only my main team has enough mod and gear power to make a dent in the other teams. Because i might have enough crystals for a couple refreshes but them im using secondary teams to fight everyones top teams. Its a losing prospect, i might knock out one hero if im lucky. Only the mega whales have enough fully decked out teams or deep enough pockets for enough refreshes to keep in even the top 1000.
