This. So it's not just me.
I have reinstalled the client. No fix. I can't run anything on BlueStacks right now because I'm sitting in the middle of the aftermath of hurricane Ian with no power for a week.
But I'll try that when I get back online.
It's only a visual bug. Even if you don't back out and go back in, it still knows you have used up 5 sims, despite not showing it. If you try to do more, it would still pop up the "25 crystals to refresh?" message. If you choose to refresh you'll be able to do more sims and get shards as usual. So I'm not sure about the "doesn't ever give more toon shards" part.
