Tournaments were amazing, they just needed to slow the pace at which we got them. That model versus the new model of character introduction of 2999 crystals for toons is a ton better. At least with Touneys you could wait out the next one and if you placed well had a useable character.
Your analysis is flawed based on the information we've been given. If what you say was true we could expect to see a rebound in participation as people sat one or two tournaments out and then came back with a fresh stock of ally points. Based on the post we were given that was not the case and participation continued to decline.
The reality here is if there were a simple fix we would have seen it. It's never easy to dump something you have a good number of man hours in. If they thought they could fix it easily they would have.
