Why is diversity not encouraged?

Looking at the meta report this morning is just... depressing. You have three toons that are used more than 73% of the time in top teams which are obviously R2, CLS, and GK. 6 toons are used 40% of the time which are Han Solo, DN, and Thrawn. I currently have 3 of the 6 at g11 or higher so I have "followed" the meta but this seems obvious. You simply cannot compete without those 6 toons or at least most of them. What other data do you need that those toons are in need of a nerf? Why would you not WANT your game to have multiple teams, multiple decisions, and, I dunno, some strategy?

    Thrawn does not get stunned first in your video. Yes they can win sometimes. Congrats on proving what we a ready know. Why don't you add so.ething new to the conversation instead of trolling ****

    Here he does; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HoZueO-qyQc

    Isn't that new? Also, do you have any swgoh meta report numbers that it is 50/50?

    With a 50/50 you don't get rank 2 consistently (they have an agreement that he's taking 2) on a near-launch shard. And no you didn't know what I told you - let me quote it again;

    Han zolo stuns thrawn at the start and this team is toast. Period. It requires luck and lots of rng for empire team to beat a good cls team. It's 50/50 at best and that's on offense.

    I've seen it plenty of times he did manage to reliably beat a full G12 zeta'ed squad consisting of CLS at 277 - Han at 230 - R2 at 270 - Thrawn at 275 - GK at 242. Yes that's 8 zeta's there :>

    Difference is, he pulls it off and you're struggling with your mental discomfort holding on to contradictory beliefs.

    Your proof of diversity is that you know a guy who colludes so he can finish 2nd in arena?

    Agreeing to take a certain spot doesn't have anything to do with collusion. Collusion is when you are working together to lock a certain person out. Again work on your definitions before you delude yourself. We are on a heavy US-based shard with only 3 people on european payouts - we don't have to collude or work together to get our spots. I'm sitting at my spot for more than 12 hours a day. We're not even on the shard chat, so yeah there is no collusion at all and we can beat all squads.

    Anyways, since you claim that I claimed/tried to prove there is diversity in arena - have fun;

    By default swgoh reports statistics of teams in the top 10 only, a tiny part of the statistics don't prove if Arena is diverse or not.

    Yes lol. One team he knows. That proves it.

    (I linked you more than one team)

    There are plenty of video's on youtube with different squads than CLS beating them. Also, you have 3 of the 6 characters you mentioned are required to compete which you also happen to have at G12 - yet you fail to reliably get top 20 on a 5 months old shard.

    Try to zeta Number crunch instead of Combat analysis and don't zeta Boba Fett again. Lovely potency sets on your Han though, loving it.
  • Lol!!!!!!!!!! Enjoy your non colluding collusion. Also enjoy the vast variety of teams in your arena. It's exciting to know that there is so many different teams to battle these days. My shard with 18 cls teams in the top 20 must be the exception and not what's rampant throughout the game.

    Thanks for all the awsome spin. You have a future in politics. Good luck too you and thanks again! .
  • I like how people are using the outlier fallacy to 'prove' dark side is represented in arena. The fact is that dark side with a few exceptions is not represented in arena. Not a single dark side user left in my top 20, with a couple gear 12 maul teams creeping in the top 30 or 40. This is the least diverse I have seen my arena since the Wedge, Biggs, and Lando trio.

    This is a 'freemium' game so to make money they continue to release stronger and stronger characters every few weeks or months to shift the meta back and forth. They want players to keep investing in new squads, and by doing stuff at short notice it causes people to rush to get there first, which they do by spending money. It is subjective with whether the 'power creep' is moving too fast or not. Personally, I feel it is, and I point the fingers at the Chirrut and Baze duo for setting it in motion so much as their utility and survivability is so great, and they have no zetas, and are the classic plug and play, in that you can put them anywhere and don't need a specific team to work with.

    Currently I only see 2 particularly viable teams for top-end arena. 1 is the zeta Barris tank gimmick, and the other is of course Commander Luke, rebel teams with Kenobi.

    I'm all for shifting metas, but I would much prefer if they gave people more options and reworked different teams at once so players can go different paths instead of feeling so pigeon-holed. And I finally jumped off the dark side train when Commander Luke was released as I got tired of feeling held back for deciding to use dark side teams over light-side. All my zetas were dark side up to that point. I did lackluster damage in raids compared to similar geared light-side teams, and I was behind in arena to teams that needed less zetas than me. Took a bit of catching up, but yesterday I zetad number crunch finally, and got 1st in arena for the first time since Luke was released. When Luke came out all the players that already had a double zeta R2 had an easy switch, but dark side users like me (I had a Nihilis lead team with 3 or 4 zetas) had a lot of catching up to do to get back at the top.

    I even got first in HAAT for the first time yesterday. Before I jumped on the light-side train I was always rank 11-13 with 2 or 3 times just inside top 10. The only reason I placed first was because of my light-side rebel teams in phase 1 and 4. No thanks to my dark side teams...

    With Thrawn coming back I am hoping that being able to 7* him will help the dark side teams a bit so only time will tell. Before he was very reachable at 5*, but not really above that without spending a lot of money. And, at 5* you can't use him in raids.
  • I think it is also doesn't help that so many of the 'elite' dark side characters are on cantina nodes instead of being spread out more. Sith Trooper, Sith Assassin, and Death Trooper are the first to come to mind. When I farmed Sith Trooper, and Assassin (I ran Nihilis lead), it took a long time to get both to 7*, and that was using energy I could have used to farm mods. I also don't even use them for anything except galactic war now, which makes it feel like a rather weak investment at this point... I am glad to finally feel like I can farm mods again since I finished them, 2 Phoenix characters on Cantina nodes, and Hoth Han to 5*. I also regret spending crystals on Shoretrooper instead of working on Baze who has proven to be a much more useful, and versatile character. Shoretrooper helps a bit in Phase 3 of HAAT, but that doesn't make him worth it.
