There are caps on multilpe things in the game, not just mods. 500 is plenty, do a weekly cleaning & toss your trash mods and you wont have any problems reaching the limit

100 is plenty. Do a daily cleaning & toss your trash mods and you won't have any problems. Is daily too frequent for you? Weekly is too frequent for me. Especially now that new characters only come out every couple months, it sure would be a nice QoL improvement for me (and several others) if we didn't have to engage in the fun that is mod management as often.

Also, if this is you, you are either very casual or a newer player. When I had 5M GP, years ago, it wasn't an issue for me either.
