Why ship energy isn't earning raid tickets?
Looks like an oversight or maybe there's another purpose for it in the future?

Yeah, they're here to make a profit because mortgages are cheaper in Sacramento, but cheaper doesn't mean cheap. But that doesn't mean it's all some twelve-dimensional chess gambit to plunder your bank account. If it is, they're either really bad at it or I'm a super genius playing in thirteen dimensions because I haven't spent anything in over a year and a half.
The free crystals and other content is there to keep people interested and to provide a slower, free alternative for progress. Where other games fall is by creating a glass ceiling with a toll booth, you either pay to get through it or you stay where you are. Eventually this disparity collapses in on itself and the free players leave, then the paying players don't have their easy targets any more and don't actually want competition on an equal footing against other paying players, so they leave, too.
