True and gambling addiction.
It’s a good thing by not requiring ship energy to generate raid tickets. It’s not “dumb” or a plot or any other reason. Their reasoning was sound so not to disrupt our current raid ticket generation or cost of raids. I fully support their decision on this and appreciate it.
And how would it actually "disrupt" status quo ? Making raid ticket cap free of charge (In crystals) would be hardly disruptive for any player. Is gaming community bent to a degree that no one can accept QoL fix without having to pay for it?
What a time to be alive...
And so-called reasoning aside and to make my statement sound: they could have made ship energy generate raid tickets and leave everything else untouched. Simple, undisruptive.
Why not direct your question directly to CG by tagging a member of the team for a proper response or read the thread with the decision for yourself.- braskmeNew SpectatorI'm hoping that it counts towards today's guild task of "spend energy". I'm guessing it will, since there's no reason it shouldn't, but I suppose I shall see in a few hours.

That guild task specifically states cantina and regular energy, so unless that changed it will not count there either"NicWester;c-1584844" wrote:

"Giime all your crystals" is the internal reason.
Well if that's what they really wanted, they wouldn't give every active player a couple hundred free every day.
Of course they would. It's another way of encouraging spending in case of those who are not willing to pay on a whale level, but they would spend some money: 'Hey, I got 1350 crystals from the free stuff, so I refresh cantina energy once, and regular energy once, and I will still have 1200 crystals, so if I buy a Pouch of Crystals, I can also get an Mk5 Stun Gun Prototype from shipments for 1400, and I can get someone to G11 just in time before TW.'
I'm aware that the majority of EA/CG's revenue is not coming from this, but this psychological approach still exists.- braskmeNew Spectator

Well that's lame, right up there with fleet arena not counting towards PvP attempts. "Spang;c-1585652" wrote:

You really can fit anything into your grand unified field theory, can't you?
New stuff? Plot to take your money.
Rework old stuff? Plot to take your money.
Giving you stuff for free? Plot to take your money."NicWester;c-1585902" wrote:

It is said in almost every discussions in this forums by you and many others that the devs are working for profit, so basically yes."NicWester;c-1585902" wrote:

No, not every free stuff, just the crystals. Other free stuffs are makegood stuff or generosity."Spang;c-1585957" wrote:

What about the crystals we get as makegood gifts? That falls into both categories.... so which one is it?"Vertigo;c-1585960" wrote:

I guess, Nic was talking about arena and daily activities, and I was reflecting to that. Makegood stuffs are makegood stuffs regardless of what they contain. But the amount in crystals in makegood stuffs are far from enough even for a single prototype, so if you want you can also regard these crystals as incentives. My previous example can be adapted to this situation as well: 'Hey, I got 500 makegood crystals. Cool, now I only need 150 to get a full Stun Cuff from shipments, so I buy a Pouch."
They could give us _anything_ even a full Mk12 Medpac, and they wouldn't lose anything. I don't know if this psychological aspect has an impact on their decision when choosing the makegood gifts, but it's still there. (I'm pretty sure that the regular crystal rewards were calculated by taking this into consideration.)"Spang;c-1585957" wrote:

Yeah, they're here to make a profit because mortgages are cheaper in Sacramento, but cheaper doesn't mean cheap. But that doesn't mean it's all some twelve-dimensional chess gambit to plunder your bank account. If it is, they're either really bad at it or I'm a super genius playing in thirteen dimensions because I haven't spent anything in over a year and a half.
The free crystals and other content is there to keep people interested and to provide a slower, free alternative for progress. Where other games fall is by creating a glass ceiling with a toll booth, you either pay to get through it or you stay where you are. Eventually this disparity collapses in on itself and the free players leave, then the paying players don't have their easy targets any more and don't actually want competition on an equal footing against other paying players, so they leave, too.
