Why was I relegated to Kyber 2?

So matchups this first week were all against same skill level opponents except match 3 where they were close for the 1-1 matches (in kyber one they were between 3568 and 3570 for the lower end) and same for 2-0 and 0-2 matches.
I believe weekly place results should be ignored as I’ve never been able to make rhyme or reason of it as I’ve started in 1st without having the highest total gp or top whatever gp is being used for mm purposes. I’m guessing that the overall bracket is set, meaning second and third matches, and then the results are just filled in. I.e 1 v 8 winner plays 2 v 7 winner. This really makes 2-7 rating meaningless beyond the fact that 2,3,4 won twice and 5,6,7 won once.
I definitely was expecting those that didn’t sign up to cause problems. There are people on my ally list who haven’t logged in for over 100 days that have a rating. This presumably means they took up a spot in a division that should have gone to an active player. As for active players that didn’t sign up. It could be they haven’t logged in since the event ended and it’ll update when they do. Not holding my breathe on that one though.
Edit: the rankings aren’t totally meaningless 2 won first two matches, 3-6 split first two matches, 7 lost first two matches. I meant meaningless in the sense that it is quite possible to have equal wins the higher finishing spot but the lower skill rating imo but probably for this week only.
