Personally I like the strategy of having a character that has synergies with detonators, it seems like it makes sense that someone should be able to prematurely detonate them given the right circumstances, therefore Zam seems to make sense.
As for how to improve thermal detonators, how about doing some more rework on improving things that provide damage reduction (like armor, defense, protection, etc.) - which I've heard many people say require changes to be more relevant - and then give thermal detonators the ability to reduce armor/defense/whatever got buffed, thereby making thermal detonators more relevant?
I suppose any changes run the risk of either not going far enough or making certain characters "essential" because of their ability to do certain things, but given that not all characters have high defense/armor/protection/whatever, using thermal detonators to reduce this for characters that have high values in one of these areas would seem like a good counter-balance to future improvements in these areas, since not all characters use thermal detonators anyways. Plus, using a bomb to reduce armor (or whatever) makes sense logically anyways (i.e. blow up the armor/whatever to expose the vulnerable part underneath).
@CG_Conduit23 Just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to respond, and more importantly, thanks for all your hard work on balancing the game, I've already seen numerous improvements to the game since it was initially released, keep up the good work.
