You probably just need to mod units a bit and get used to it. Same teams can be played differently depending on who is running them, matter of experience. Just try different things and experiment a bit. You'll get the hang of it. For now you can just skip those teams and snipe easier ones.
As far as I'm concerned - it's just a matter of getting better mods or actually modding all units.

True. It's still relativelly easy compared to other units. However his usefullness is very limited so cons outweight pros in this case.
