Arena Squad (Overall roster advice) - HELP (Level 73 F2P)

Long time lurker first time poster...Sorry for the long post...F2P

Been playing since November. I've been struggling with Arena for some time now. After reading the forums I've been purposefully trying to keep my arena team under 21K power to keep Galaxy War beatable. My current Arena team is about 20,200 power: Phasma (L) 6* G8, Kylo 5* G7, Dooku 4* G8, Daka 6* G8, Poggle 5*G7.

It's hit or miss. If I get get Poggle off & then Phasma I can wreck most teams up to 23K. Most of the time I can crack 500 (which is where I'm happy to be with payout). I've been as low as 296 before. My biggest problem is I drop significantly in the rankings over night and it's a pain to fight back down because loosing 1 or 2 and I miss 100 tokens of my payout.

I have been stockpiling for a while now. I have 150/100 shards for Phasma, 85/85 for Kylo, 85/85 for Poggle, 101/100 for Daka and 112/65 for Dooku. I can also take most of them up a gear level or two.

My Galaxy war A team is: Luminara 7*G8, Sid 7* G8, Daka 6*G8, Phasma 6*G8 and I sub in Ventress 6*G8 (She can be upgraded to 7* as well 101/100) or JC 5*G8. I haven't been upgrading anyone bc right now clearing GW each day seems more important. If I hit a wall then I could easily upgrade quite a few characters. I have 27.7M credits.

I have 39 characters. Looking for advice (I know that the meta may change tomorrow but any advice right now would be appreciated). Who should I use for Arena?

    @godgiven45 is right.
    Try this: Dooku (L), Phasma, RG, Kylo, GS
    Star/Gear/Ability up all of them as much as you can. RG is good even at 4* if you have him geared up. You can sub out Kylo with Lumi if lots of dooku(L) around.

    GW may get little hard but you will be able to make it. As more and more of your toons reach the max level GW will start getting easier. Anyway you have a great GW squad. Lumi, Daka, Ventress, GS, JC should pretty much get you right till node 10 easily.

    @godgiven45 - Thanks. I figured that's what most people would say. I was just hesitant bc I went for a long while unable to complete GW. Only being able to get halfway through it again would be a step back IMO just to get a few hundred more Arena tokens and crystals. Cut off for Arena is 7pm PST for me & that's right when I'm home with my better half making dinner... But maybe I'm being paranoid and using my A team in Arena wouldn't necessarily mean I couldn't complete GW.

    Either way I guess we'll see what happens with tomorrow's release.

    PS: I'd still love to hear some rec's on who I should use for my arena team.

    Don't b afraid to be different I've been running a han lead since this whole dooku thin happenedand I'm #1 at payout every day. I complete GW everyday. Don't think it matters that much

    Most important thing is getting a full 7* arena team (RG can be viable at 4 or 5). The more crystals you get, the more refreshes you can do, the faster you can farm characters and gear. One of the biggest mistakes players make is getting a character to 5 stars then changing to someone else. Like chuck covered, its way better to have 5 7*s then 20 5*s.

    Don't be afraid of increasing your power. I used to be afraid of this too but as galactic war is scaled up, so are your characters. They'll hit harder, have more health, etc. I really never hit a wall in GW.

    Looking at your lineup, a pretty solid arena team would be Dooku(L), Sid, Lumi, Poggle, GS. I wouldn't run Dooku til he is at least 5* though so another good option is Sid(L), Lumi, poggle, GS, Daka.

    Remember, focus on getting your main squad up to 7* with max abilities and gear.

    In GW I'd run Lumi, Sid , Daka, GS, and JC. 3 healers and GS's damage output should carry you through it. Always try and enter the next battle with at least 1 heal up. Heal timing is huge in GW. Don't end a battle with things looking poorly. You can always retreat and try a different approach.

    I agree with almost everything. However I have few issues with your arena suggestion. Until Dooku(L) meta changes, AoE toons can be a liability bcos of the free offense up they provide. Without his AoE, sid is pretty useless. Also with dooku (L) you will be getting free offense up frequently, so poggle is a wasted spot. After the self-revive fix Daka is not that big a deal anymore and her heal is pretty weak. She is still a viable option and you can try her out and see if you hold rank better with her. IMO a tank (RG) or DPS toon is much better use of her spot. RG also has pretty decent stun. You should be easily able to break into Top 100 with Dooku(L)+RG+GS . Rest 2 spots you can experiment.

    P.S.: He has enough shards and credits to take dooku to 5* immediately.

    Well, I'm assuming everyone at rank 500 isn't running dooku leads. I see your points though. mine is he already has a 7* sid, lumi and 6* GS and Daka. GS, Daka, and poggle are all separate farms. Once he has 5 7*'s his arena rank will improve and he can start swapping in diff toons when he completes them. Plus he can always farm RG on the side.

    Thank you everyone - I really appreciate the responses. I'm going to see how things shake out after today's update and then I'll start by upgrading Dooku to 5* (or 6* if I get enough shards today), Phasma to 7*, Kylo to 6*, Daka to 7*, Ventress to 7*, upgrade abilities & levels as much as I can. I figure I can spend <7M credits to do this and have 20M in reserve. Then I'll play around with a stronger Arena team. I guess I just needed some fellow players to tell me to stop saving/stockpiling (which I never would have ever thought to do without the forum)

    PS: Totally random observation - this morning we had a 'client must be restarted' and all of my hard nodes (Rey, FOTP, Ahsoka) failed to drop a single shard. lol.

    I'm completely F2P and usually rank 1st at least once or twice a week (float in the top 10 rest of the time).

    I would upgrade dooku and daka (superstun combo) right now and wait on the rest till after the update. DO NOT upgrade ventress at all!!!!! Save your credits!!!!!!! She's been the biggest disappointment even post buff, just way too slow to be viable anywhere but gw.

    For arena i'd go with:
    Dooku (L) Sid Daka GS Lumi (replace with RG when possible)
