Beating Hound’s Tooth teams without Hound’s Tooth?

Who is using teams without Hound’s Tooth and beating teams that have him?

I’ve never liked it when you *must* have a certain ship to do well in ships. It used to be Biggs, and at one time Tie Reaper before the big ships change. Now in my shard it’s HT.

I use one team that works and can get me to #1, but now that everyone has a 7* HT it’s getting harder.

My stating lineup is Umbaran, Sunfac, and Tie Fighter. First reinforcement is Wedge. Second is usually Vader. Capital ship is Tarkin.

Umbaran and SF take a beating but stay alive. Wedge shuts down HT long enough to destroy him. After that it just depends on how good or bad of shape my guys are in. It works well enough but not always. And it gets a bit boring running the same team in the same order battle after battle.

I’ve been experimenting but unless I put a couple tanks up front in the beginning, one of my ships is dead before their HT is destroyed and it’s basically game over.

For the heck of it I farmed Sith Fighter to 7* and maxes out pilot but she seems useless. A sith team doesn’t seem to work agains any HT team.

What have you had success with?

  • I dont know about other shards, but mine has evolved to where I now think Thrawn or Mace is the best capital, instead of Tarkin. Geo fleets are suffering.

    People are running triple tanks. HT in Starting and Biggs and SF or Clone Trooper off of the bench. You can't burn through their roster. In top 25 I always get to my 3rd reinforce and sometimes my 4th.

    You have to have the healing to tank damage long enough to get to your super to Kill HT. You also have to have the damage to kill the 2nd and 3rd tanks that come from the bench. Thrawn works best for me.

    I run: Ghost, Biggs, Vader --> Phantom, Cassian, Landos Falcon, Boba. Landos Falcon is my personal MVP, but your milage may vary.

    Boba is now going to be banished from my lineup for the second time. He's too squishy and doesnt offer enough burst damage. I may try Lil Ahsoka or an undergeared Plo.
  • Boba can still be a decent reinforcement under Ackbar. Bonus protection + retribution + crit immunity makes him supremely annoying for a turn or three. He can also be rather dangerous if Ackbar gets to his ultimate and Boba can drop that bomb twice. Goes right under protection and can ruin HT.

    But yes, people are running several tanks and battles are starting to drag.

    My guy went from Geo Trio to the same HT/Vader/Silencer that most of the shard seems to have adopted. Not sure why. I've seen one or two with Sun Fac as a reinforcement (they seem to think that Sun Fac/Biggs/Boba will slow me down enough to time out? I dunno), but the other two Geos are nowhere to be seen.


    Yes there's some HT Vader Silencer, but more are using HT Spy Soldier with Sun Fac as first RI.

    Definitely could be a shard thing. I've heard of many shards with a lot of Mace's now. We still have just a single in the top 50 and he never gets above 20. I'm reasonably sure I'm lucky to be on one of the less active shards, I rarely fall out of top 20, sometimes stay in top 10.

  • I always had an easy time beating 5*,6* and sometimes 7* HT with TIE Silencer. First it needs to attack at least 2 target locked ship/get attacked 2 times, then if you use the Chimaera or Executrix give some offense up, then make sure to hit HT while it's at <50% TM to get advantage, bam he's gone. It gets better when you put the Silencer as backup with Executrix since it got permanent 25% offense and retribution for a bigger chance to gain advantage.
    This may sound overly complicated, but boy this ship kills HT with 200k+ damage, minimum.

    Silencer-with-Advantage is also my preferred HT elimination method. I use First Order TIE also, and if you get a target lock on it, repeated Strafes can damage it through the protection as well.
  • Silencer is definitely a threat if left alone long enough. It's why I prefer to remove it early. Hit it with breach too to bring its Offense down.
