- There are many counters too them. Wampa and nest are good examples of characters that completely shut down phoenix. In terms of low level usable characters, the imperial troopers and first order can beat phoenix easily.
- You aint seen nothing yet.
- VaderizerSeasoned NewcomerThey become very easy to beat later on in the game. They seem wildly overpowered now, but you'll steamroll them before too long. Basically any team with heavy debuffs or big hitters can plow through them. Palp lead Sith/Empire is the easiest, since it provides both, plus Palp's passive damages them every turn (2x on Kanan and Ezra) and Shock prevents healing.
First team I managed to beat them with consistently was First Order. Regardless of team, you'll usually want to gun down Chopper first - he provides the obnoxious Protection Up every time you land a hit, so if you can get him out of the way, the others become a lot easier to kill. He'll even politely taunt for you to direct the hits his way. - Palp or even maul can do it too.
- Wasn't Palpatine originally created specifically to counter Phoenix?
- I wouldn't say you're crazy. I might say you haven't played long enough or experienced enough yet? No negativity implied. But Phoenix, while a strong synergistic team for low-to-mid-level players, are really a non-issue late in the game. I can kill them with a CLS team, or NS, or Sith... they can be destroyed by a JTR team, a Revan team... and probably a bunch of other careful combinations. I think nerfing them would be unfair and unnecessary, since they aren't that fantastic to start with. But they are a fun team to play and do well on defense for TW/TB.

I thought that Palp came before Phoenix, but I could be wrong. Thrawn was created to counter them however- You guys are taking this tgread serious?

its kind of ridiculous. i know its just for low levels but they shouldnt be able to completely domimate the arena. playing as them isnt even fun because its too op. am i crazy?
What you’ve discovered is the first “meta” team in the game. For a number of reasons, Phoenix is the best starting team, and for a while they will dominate arena. But they are only the first of many meta teams you will encounter. In my arena, there was a Phoenix meta, a Palpatine Empire/Sith meta, a mixed meta where a number of teams were viable, and now a Jedi Revan meta. There is often one team in arena that just destroys everything else. And the developers let each one reign supreme for a while and then introduce something better. It’s how they make money and it’s part of the game. The developers are unlikely to shut down any overpowered teams unless they directly interfere with their latest overpowered team. So hang on, buckle in, and enjoy the ride. Because this is just the beginning of the meta teams you’ll see.
