My shard is 5 years old so I have some stiff competition. Through GrandIvory's modding I got my CLS team to 29, have 3 more battles but will surely drop down in a few hours. Just curious though how much people are spending if any to stay in top 20

I set myself a budget of 150 crystals for both arenas. some days I use it, but usually only 100, others I dont spend any. Lately those days are lower, too many active in my fleet so need a 50 to make the whole climb. arena, is more rare to spend the 50, but it still happens.

My experience has been that at the end of a meta, more and more people have it, and therefore you get pushed farther and farther down before your climb. Combine that with a meta that is not terribly reliant on mods (GAS), and you end up with a ton of people able to climb that weren't before, pushing you down even farther.And then the meta shifts, and it won't take long before you're locked out of the top 20 regardless, unless there's a viable counter that you are able to utilize.

Can you climb to top 20 these days without spending crystals?

Well, either way I actually think there is a path to top 20 for my classic CLS team. I'm not killing teams in 20-40 range, and my Han's offense arrow isn't 6E yet. I'm expecting a nice bump from that. I modded R2 for just top speed low potency. I think I'm going to change that up because I'm not seeing it matter too much. This GrandIvory optimizer has helped a lot.

It's pretty funny that 5 years ago I was #1 competitive then I dropped away, and here I am seeing @Tugg_speedman still in the top20 after all these years

Auto Arena 4 Life! But I’ve never been a big fan of the mode and rarely play it other than the two dailies and a little more recently to get the 20 Qui-Gon wins needed for the Jedi Master title (which required a temporary switch to ‘Team Ugnaught’ to lose enough rank for that to work). Closest I ever got to the top was around 20 just after Jedi Revan’s release.

It's a double-win for me though. I lack Revans. So if I can massage my way to having a really solid DR Malak counter, which most CLS teams are not, then I'm in great shape roster-wise for my GP. Now I can take most GAS and most DR Malak teams I face in GAC.

My CLS team isn't my only bag of tricks. I'm a long-term thinker.
As soon as I wrap up my current farms in 2 weeks I'll be working on getting my current G11 Scav Rey, G12 Poe Pilot and Finn to relic 1 then I'll work on the other toons while saving the mats. I use those resistance I just mentioned for GAC so relic 1 now would be good. In am at 3.45 million GP so I think I can do all that while staying below the 3.79 million mark. I'd like to sandbag in Div 3 for a while

I can usually get top 20 in arena no refreshes except on Tuesdays (yeah weird!). my GA$ almost always hovers in the 30s. For fleet it's usually top 10 no refresh and sometimes top 5. Think i just picked the right PO time which is 2pm and 3pm my local (Pacific) timezone
