Strength/Myth#1 - Poe attacks before anyone else.
This is one of the biggest foundations/ behind OP reasoning. In theory, if Poe goes first and removes 20% turn meter then his whole team will be able to attack first and net a kill.
Here is a list of characters that have higher speeds than Poe's 143:

Leia 152
Geo Soldier 149
Gunray 144
Rebel Scout 143
Rey 143

re: #2-- yes, the expose is detrimental, but what also really turns the tides is the turn meter reduction. That can allow the entire enemy team to go before you get to take a single action. With the high-damage state of the game right now, that can result in 2 or even 3 of your characters dead before you ever get to use them.
