I understand the urge to complain. I do it all the time. No judgment.
But this isn't as bad as you think. It's a matter of you being a new player. I love the NS, too, and they do just fine (and will continue to do just fine) as they are. No, they're not likely to rank top 50 in the arena anymore (although I see them there sometimes) but they are excellent for TW/TB and can still get you in the top 100 or 200 depending on your shard.
Make sure they're all leveled and zeta'd and have the fastest mods you can find and they'll do fine for you. But the bigger thing you have to realize is that this is how the game goes: one day a faction is uber-powerful, the next day they're easily beaten. It's no more annoying now than it was two years ago. The trick is to have lots of squads you enjoy playing with for a variety of reasons. If you put all your love and care and energy into a single squad... you will eventually be disappointed when they stop being meta. No biggie if you stop playing, I get it! But if you wanted to keep playing, I'd say build lots more teams you think are cool and fun, besides just the NS.
Source: me, been playing the game since it was released in Nov 2015 and have weathered many of these storms! =)
PS: you want a 'shame on you developers?' It's all the pay-to-play characters that have flooded the game this year. I've never had so many 3-star, unfarmable characters laying at the back of my roster. Wait until some of them are required at 7-star to get an important new character, and only people who've spent to level them can get said new character - that day will be a "shame on you developers" day. I think they're still okay for now. =)
